Why am I up so early? Because I can't sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time, and after waking up five times the idea of going through the being-woken-up-by-dry-tongue-sticking-to-roof-of-mouth feeling just starts to become less appealing than being tired but getting up anyway. I just want to sleep through a whole night. Is that too much to ask? Mother just suggested Sudafed (for my sore throat and total lack of sinus congestion *facepalm*). Sudafed also tends to dry out your mouth and make it difficult for some people to sleep. Um, no.

Some of you may have heard me making thoughtful noises about taking up a musical instrument. Partly because everyone's doing it, and partly because I think it will improve my sight reading and general written-music comprehension, and will make me a better singer and overall musician (yes, singers are musicians too, shut up :P). There aren't many instruments on the short list, because I'm not very imaginative, so feel free to offer alternatives (but I don't want to play flute -I am very much not a 'flutey' sort of person - so don't bother with that one *s*)

WAAAAAAAAAAAH. CAMERON. Also, Cuddy? So in love with House. But House? So fancying Cameron right now, OMG. THEY CANNOT REPLACE HER. SHE IS THE HEART OF THE TEAM. Someone tell me she comes back? *wibble*

I have husky morning voice, and so not in the sexy way. I look and sound like I died two days ago and simply forgot to lie down and shut up. At least I smell good. Bleeeeeaaaaaarrrgh. Braaaaaaaaiiiiiiiinss.

*hurts*

ETA: Some House spoilers in the comments.

re: the unable to sleep thingy - passionflower (tea or tablets) are a really big help for es and i when we need to sleep. The huge advantage is when you get up in the morning you feel totally refreshed and not "i had a sleeping tablet last night therefore was forced to sleep." You can get them at healthfood shops.

That is probably good advice, although the being-unable-to-sleep thing isn't so much an insomnia problem as a 'my body hurts too much to stay relaxed and unconscious' problem. I fear I would be in even more pain in the morning if I actually slept through the night instead of waking to rehydrate so often. Normall I sleep OK, it's just the last few nights my body has not been cooperating :(

Someone tell me she comes back?

In a way, given how things have gone, I hope she doesn't - it would be too unbelievable of either of them right now. House is a scared, past-trapped fool and screwed up, and Cameron had the guts and self-respect to carry through with really the only thing she could do. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

Heh, I seem to have been suckered into this show.

It's a good show! And I like the fact that we didn't get into (much) personal (or interpersonal) drama until the show had established itself as being good, as having engaging characters and an interesting setting and a new(ish) approach to a familiar and comfortable format (the doctor drama/medical mystery). I also like that the word "love" has never been used to describe the feelings between Cameron and House. Like that a lot.

I do see what you mean (and I think House and Cameron actually getting together would just...not be workable. It's not believable for House to coexist in a functional adult relationship, he's too selfish and too broken). But I like Cameron, and I think she's an important part of the team and of the show's dynamic (like I said in the post, she's the heart of the team - although I see Foreman has recently been set up to be more sensitive and caring than we are used to - perhaps he is going to take Cameron's place in that regard?). I don't think it needs to 'work out' (nor would I be particularly confortable if it did), but that doesn't mean I want to lose Cameron, either (or think it will be good for House to lose Cameron :()

Hey, he was actually held accountable for his behaviour last night, and he wasn't just funny, crabby House, he was actually kind of selfish (though in a delightfully 'doing-what's-right' kind of way *S*).

Well then! Clearly I am a person who has not watched the show.

Her name isn't Cameron Cameron, is it?

Does this mean that House is not House's first name? That is a pity.

*grin* Well, to be fair, I don't actually know her first name, and I've been watching it since the start! It could be Dr. Cameron Cameron, but I don't think so.

Nope. :( But it is Greg(ory), so that's OK *g*

That implies, to my mind, that you think it is NOT OK to be named Greg.

No, it doesn't. But it is better than being called House with no first name.

Mwahaha, with my sad faces, I shall rule the world by making people pity me! :( :( :( :( :( Er...wait. That's not fun.

Whenever someone tells me that, I always think "Oh! That's right! I'll remember it now!" and then I never do remember *s*

I can remember Robert, Eric (it is Eric Foreman, right?? *blush*), Lisa, Greg(ory) and James (or Jimmy *g*) but not Alison. I wonder what it is about that name?

Fair enough. I guess I haven't been watching the show long enough. Cameron was cute and all, but I hadn't gotten to know her character that well.

(or think it will be good for House to lose Cameron :()

Oh, it isn't. Just reinforces his entrenched issues.

I see him as only selfish because, in his broken state, he has to be, or he would be forced to face his issues, which he cannot currently do. He needs his selfish sense of nobility to hide himself from the pain he hasn't come to terms with. I am quite curious to find out more about what his past is, and just what his issues and afflictions are. Has that and/or the limp and the apparent addiction to his medication I heard mentioned been more fully explained?

I guess it's easier to get attached after a long time watching *s* I plan to buy the first season on DVD as soon as it is available at a reasonable price here, so you'd be welcome to borrow them and catch up, if you like. you don't need the backstory, as this is one of those handy "one episode, one or two stories" shows where (most) things get wrapped up before the credits roll.

Still, yes, the limp and House's Vicodin addiction have been addressed before. This icon comes from an episode in which House bets Cuddy he can go for a certain period of time (a week??) without taking any painkillers, and he ends up breaking his own hand to distract from the pain in his leg. It also affects his work and stuff and by the end he admits to being addicted but it's generally accepted that it doesn't really matter too much. I think. As for his past, it has been mentioned that he lived with someone for a while, and Cuddy has been subtly avoidant when asked by Vogler if she was sleeping with (or something) House. It's possible they have some kind of history (and it's obvious that she is fond of him - Cuddy isn't the sort of woman to put up with his bullshit if she didn't have a soft spot for him, IMO), and that he has been in some kind of serious long-term relationship with someone, but that's all (I think) we know.

True, I just want to know it!

Wikipedia actually has a fairly thorough entry on House. Seems there is a new character who will be appearing in one or two episodes soon who is significant in House's past.

*spoiler* Pretty sure Cameron will be back. I missed Wednesday nights though so I'm NOT happy about that! I thought I'd taped it but had my vcr on the wrong channel *cries*

How did she leave? What happened????

I'm such an addict of this show!

By the way- not in the correct thread for this comment but it has been implied since the first episode that Cuddy and House have a history.

Since you're an adult, I'm telling you which instuments you're not allowed to take up:

Viola, Violin or Cello - tuning technique is too hard to get right
Trumpet - playing requires muscle condition
Oboe - embrouchure damn hard like trumpet.

Now, you are allowed to take up ony of these instruments, but only if you're prepared to practice for more than an hour a day, every day, for the next seven years.

If not, I forbid you.

I do think it's a good idea to take up an instrument. Particularly a wind instument. Instruments are nice, expressive, and aren't solo vocals.

woe for House. He is so bloody silly when it comes to himself. Waaah for Cameron
