Bec Cartwright HEARTS Lleyton Hewitt UNTIL FOREVAR

So Bec and Lleyton (soapie starlet/wannabe pop singer and her tennis playing Twue Wuv, for you unenlightened types) tied the knot recently in a Sooper Sekrit ceremony at the Sydney Opera House, with the reception at Taronga Zoo. No reporters were allowed inside because the couple had made a lucrative deal with New Idea giving them exclusive rights to wedding photos, but somehow the evening news on the day still managed to take up an amazing amount of time focused on reporters standing outside the venue talking about the fact that they couldn't see anything. Um. Yeah. That's newsworthy.

Anyway, in today's Herald Sun they have printed a transcription of the surprise poem Bec read to her dearest darling sweetie pie at the reception. She wrote it herself, and she apparently didn't tell anyone about it until after all the other speeches, when she got up and presented it to her new hubby. And. Well. I would say something snarky about this, but really...I think Bec's poetry speaks for itself...

"I really don't know where to start
But I definitely know you've captured my heart.
It started that night you called me up
To see if I'd play in the Starlight Cup.
Way back then, little did we know,
That our love for one another would grow and grow.
A text message or two is what kept us in touch
And I want you to know that I love you so much.
It wasn't 'til late in 2004
That I received another phone call.
When we decided to meet,
We went up the street for something to eat.
From that day on I've been at your side
And look at me now,
I am here as your bride!
I used to wish upon a star
That I'd meet the perfect husband -- and here you are!
You're an inspiration to so many including me.
Anyone who's ever met you can count themselves lucky.
I'm so lucky I've found the one,
Being with you I have nothing but fun.
You are my best friend and my dream come true
And I'm so glad to be sharing all this with you.
This is only the start of our dream together,
But I promise to love you until forever.
I can't wait to start my life with you,
Just being together, our dreams'll come true.
I have no doubt I'm glad to be your wife,
And being with me is now a part of your life.
I admire you for so many reasons,
I mean look at what happened at the Four Seasons!
We're about to experience the miracle of life,
But always remember I'm so proud to be your wife,
Having a family with you makes me so glad,
I know I'll never get sad.
Thanks so much for choosing me,
By sticking together we'll make a great family.
Engaged and then married and now one on the way,
I'll take such good care of you every day.
It's safe to say I'll love you more and more
And marrying you today, I couldn't be more sure.
Rebecca Hewitt! I'm your wife!
I promise you one thing, stick with me and you'll have a bloody good life!"

--Rebecca Hewitt, 2005
(As printed in the Herald Sun, 25/7/05, p2)

Oh, Bec. Stick with Home and Away scripts, sweetie. Those screenwriters are dreadful, too, but at least the people who watch Home and Away are looking for pre-pubescent drivel. And Home and Away scripts don't rhyme (not even as badly as you).

Has she heard of...oh, I dunno, rhythm? Or counting syllables to make something that flows?

Ridiculous though they are, MSN is worse. I think you have been receiving NONE of my messages. I will have to throw myself on the tender mercy of LJ and copy-paste.

Ahh, I see. I did get those messages (except the last one) and I replied, but apparently you did not get my message either :( This is strange, because I was not having this problem with any of the other MSN conversations I had open. Woe.

I asked how long it has been going on and suggested a doctorial visit, for the record :)

She's a pop star wannabe? Honestly, isn't it bad enough that every Neighbours starlet has to jump the bandwagon, but now the Home and Away chicks are following suit?

Groan....

I couldn't even get past the first couplet without saying "ugh". Seriously, since when has a marriage of a bloody soap star and a tennis player been considered news? And not only news, but news that sticks around like a bad smell for at least three weeks? Oh, wait, Australia, right. ;)

At least it's not Shane Warne's sex life again. There are a litany of mental images I can safely do WITHOUT.

Hey, it gets better! The Scared Weird Little Guys *did* put it to music this morning - REM's 'End of the world'. It'll probably be on the Triple M website later today.
