Mmm. That was the somewhat blissed-out, exhausted "mmm" of a girl who is relaxing after a long, hard...er...day. What did you think I was going to say? This is a public post, after all :P Well, it wasn't that long and hard... - *sigh* drawn out protracted and difficult - but it was tiring in the good, satisfying way. Last night was great - I should go to WWLAs more often! - despite a distinct lack of sleep as I continued to be sick. This morning was spent wandering Chadstone researching millinery trends (heh - it's like I never left uni) and then collecting supplies for hat(s) of my own, and then curled up in a comfy chair in the Borders cafe, reading and drinking iced chocolate.

I like Borders. You can sit in the cafe for hours reading books you have no intention of buying, and Gloria Jean's people give you free smoothie samples. Well, maybe that was just today, but it was fun nevertheless! Today, I read The Coma, by Alex Garland (yes, the whole book), because it was short and looked intriguing. It was great, though bizarre and mind-screwy (just when you think you've figured out what is going on, you realise you have no idea). Not something that I would have bought, but something I am not sorry I read. I was going to read the first few chapters of Anansi Boys (and try to resist buying it afterwards, low on funds as I am :-/), but I couldn't find it, and (just under) two hours was exactly enough time to kill with The Coma. Hurrah! Next discovery was Fresh Lipstick: Redressing Fashion and Feminism by Linda M. Scott, which I discovered on Amazon months ago (when I was writing my fashion vs? feminism essay)! They have it at Borders! But it is $45, so it is a little way down on the list of "books I'm going to buy" :-/

Instead, I discovered Girl Heroes: The New Force in Popular Culture by Susan Hopkins in the bargain bin, 75% off the marked price, which made it $8.75! It has a chapter on popstars with a hefty section dedicated to Britney Spears (see? I'm not the only person in the world who finds her interesting :P) and also talks about supermodels, girl action heroes, witchcraft and female celebrities. It might be crap, but I'm hoping it will turn out to be worth the almost-nine-bucks. At the very least, it should make me actually think about things again.

After the random book purchasing came (for me, second) lunch and an impromptu ridiculous movie (Sky High - it's soooo silly, but it's great!), with sneaky smuggling-in of outside food, shhhh *is Teh Crafty* Now I'm going to watch last night's House, and then tonight's House, and make myself a hat (well...fascinator, really) or two :) hopefully I'll be able to find my digicam so I can post photos when they're done. They will be quite fun, if they work out the way I hope they do!

Have a good night, world! *loves everything^*

^OK, not actually everything. But...*is v. happy with life, generally, at this particular moment in time* :)
